On keeping things small

The best systems I've kept running for years all share one trait: they're boring, and they do one thing. Every time I add cleverness I pay for it at 2am.

A note about backups

A backup you haven't restored from is a rumor. Spent an afternoon actually restoring one this week — found two silent gaps I'd never have noticed.

Slower mornings

Stopped checking anything with a screen before coffee. The work is the same; the day feels twice as long.
